There is the sound of frantic shuffling of paper, as if someone is flipping through an instruction manual with a great deal of mystification, and then the 'message' ends.

[he pauses, the laughs]
And it's probably much safer than the candles we'd put on ours.

[Wow, JoJo, wow.]
I wonder how many houses burned down as a result of that sort of thing.
no subject
I imagine that there were a few, but it's not the sort of thing that you lit and walked away from. We never had any trouble with ours.
[and the house burned down anyway but whatever details]

Really, this is all interesting. I sometimes forget how displaced you are. I don't mean that negatively, of course. Only that interesting to me how much history you carry in your head.

[he laughs a little bit. Jonathan's situation has always filled him with wry amusement whenever he thinks on it - here he was, a man dedicated to studying the past, suddenly an artifact of the past himself. it was almost absurd.]
But to answer your question, we'd light them every night. It was nice to enjoy its glow for as long as possible, especially when we were all together.
no subject
I'm glad you had the chance to experience something like that.

[even if some of the amicability was founded on lies, Jonathan still had seven Christmases full of quiet moments with his little family around the tree. looking back, that was far more than he'd have ever thought to ask for.]
I hope that I've been able to give my family those same happy memories in the future. It's silly, but I've only realized now that I still haven't asked Joseph what his holidays were like at home.
no subject
[Well, he has a hard time imagining Joseph as the gathering around a tree type. On the other hand, the guy can be surprisingly sentimental so he's not ready to assume.]
...ah. Did you get something for my father?
no subject
[said somewhat awkwardly, because Jonathan knows that it's not really something that most people would approve of. but Dio is his brother, and it's fucking Christmas; there's no way he's not giving him something.]
Has he been talking about it?
[is this why Giorno's asking? did he misjudge how poorly the zippers would be taken even with the book? oh god he totally did didn't he shit shit shit.]
no subject
[because, well. He rubs his face.]
I think he'd like that.
no subject
I do hope so. It wouldn't have been right to leave him out of the celebration, and I did try my best to give something thoughtful.
no subject
[FACE RUBBING.]
Hmm. Well, I'm sure he'll enjoy it, whatever it is.
no subject
[hopefully by USING THEM TO ZIP UP HIS CROTCH. although Jonathan honestly doesn't have much faith in that; he'll just be happy if the gift-giving itself isn't broadcast around too much.]
But then that's the best one can hope for whenever you give gifts. I'm sure everything will turn out fine.
no subject
[honestly, he'll probably just stroke them and purr about it, but giorno doesn't know that and doesn't want to know that, so...]
...hopefully nothing too strange.
[he doesn't want to see cats with unzippable heads wandering around or anything, ok. not that he even knows what the gift is, but the point is, dio is weird.]
no subject
[OH MY GOD LIKE THE PEOPLE-HEADED CATDOGS WEREN'T BAD ENOUGH]
no subject
[You have no idea how much you mean to him, do you? Ugh. Giorno rubs his face.]
no subject
I'd hope that he would have grown out of such pettiness. [hope, but not really expect it] Still, I'd have to try if it got to that point.
no subject
I... don't mean to pry, but what did you... get him?
[Just. Please don't let it have any weird connotations.]
no subject
[mumblemumblemumble while looking at some point in his room that isn't Giorno's face. he has a feeling this isn't the kind of gift that most people would understand.]
no subject
no subject
[DRAGGING HIS HANDS DOWN HIS FACE IN AGONY OH GOD THOSE FUCKING OUTFITS]
no subject
He...
Well. I think he's just going to...
...do what he wants.
[So basically, yes he can, good try though.]
no subject
...most likely. Maybe I'll work on going blind instead.

I-it's not like that! It's just difficult not to be aware of how indecent it is!
